Portfolio #780
#780 represents images taken during the experimental installation phases of the first Window Installation, #601. From the fall of 2002 into the spring of 2003, natural light patterns were studied and photographed as they bathed the first Window Installation Collection of historic wooden sash that were retrieved from an early twentieth-century Manhattan apartment house located at No. 780 Riverside Drive.

The Window Installation Series
The concept for the first Window Installation developed out of a basic appreciation for the aesthetic elements of historic wooden window sash slated for demolition. The first work, Installation #601, began as a pilot study, which experimented with the display of window sash as works of art bathed in natural light settings and has since evolved into a series of Window Installations, each featuring the aesthetic in addition to historic origin of original wooden sash retrieved from historic buildings located in and around the New York City metropolitan area.
The Window Installation Series continues its evolution as a public forum for provoking viewers to ask questions related to the history behind the window sash, their re-contextualization within the gallery arena and the sustainable future of historic wooden windows on historic New York City buildings.
