Installation #1300-1
November 3, 2005 - January 5, 2006
Site: Weill Cornell Medical Library
1300 York Avenue
New York, NY 10021
The seventh in the series of site-specific Window Installations, #1300-1 was constructed on request for The 15th Medical Complex Art Show at the Weill Cornell Medical Library in New York City. The installation featured one window selected from a group of windows salvaged from a nineteenth-century Brooklyn Machine Shop. The single window was suspended from a custom built wooden framework and mounted into an existing windowsill on site. Two images, derived from 2 previous Installations were mounted on the windowpanes. A magnifying Lupe accompanied the work and allowed the viewer to both physically and conceptually enter all 3 Installations through the magnification of the images. Before it's dismantling, photographic images of the Installation were taken, using the outside ambient daylight as source for illumination.
