Installation #1511
July 6, 2004 - July 24, 2004
Site: PhilosophyBox Gallery
#1511 Lexington Avenue
New York, NY 10029

The fourth in the series of site-specific Window Installations, #1511 featured a select group of 6 windows salvaged from a 19th century Brooklyn Machine Shop, suspended from a custom built, floor based, 9ft ceiling framework and arranged to envelop the viewer within a 166-sqft luminous environment. Transparent images of previous installations, which had since been destroyed, were mounted on each windowpane and illuminated by the sun's ambient light. Additional transparent images were mounted into custom light boxes displayed on the southern gallery wall. Over the course of exhibition, mappings of the western exposure sunlight were documented both on the floor and north wall as light patterns swept the gallery. The resulting collection of photographic images derived from the exhibit remains the exclusive source of documentation since the installation's dismantling.
